The "company house" appeared during a boom in the coal industry in Nova Scotia which, at the turn of the twentieth century, saw hundreds of workers arriving daily to towns like Glace Bay. To offset the resulting housing crisis, companies constructed and rented out accommodations deducting the rent directly from a worker's pay. Various styles, now privately, can still be seen in mining communities.
Comes with 14 count Aida cloth backing, cotton embroidery floss, embroidery needle and complete instructions.
Finished size (unframed): approx. 15" x 5"
